I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 1996, first in New Jersey and then in California. I have been living in Davis since 2001 and am deeply involved in the community. For over 10 years, I worked as a counselor/school social worker for the Davis Joint Unified School District. In my private practice, I specialize in the treatment of adults, adolescents, and their families.
My education, training, and work have been in Germany and the US. A Fulbright scholarship brought me from Germany to Rutgers University in New Jersey where I earned my Master’s in Social Work (MSW). I have worked in family service agencies, a community mental health center, a college counseling center, middle schools, and high schools, both in New Jersey and California. I have provided mental health services for children, teens, families, college students, and adults in general. I have worked with people in crisis and also with people not in crisis who are trying to make long-lasting changes in their lives.
The focus of my work is always to meet my clients “where they are” – to find out what it is that they would like to change in your life and to start there. Building a trusting relationship and creating a safe space is key to the therapeutic process and our work together. My style is warm, engaging, and empathetic. I can also challenge and be direct to promote change, or use humor in a gentle way when appropriate.
Over the years I have enjoyed working actively with many therapists, other mental health providers, counselors, and social service organizations within the greater community. For several years I was a board member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) – Yolo Solano Chapter.
